Job Details
Depending on experience, the appointment could be made at either Research Associate or Research Officer level.
The role will involve the supervision of post-graduate and undergraduate students, laboratory management, and a contribution to the group's work in synthetic supramolecular chemistry.
There will also be opportunities to acquire teaching experience. Potential areas of research include biomimetic carbohydrate recognition, systems capable of informational self-replication, and host-guest pairs capable of strong and selective binding in water. The work will require expertise in organic synthesis and the possession of, or ability to develop, skills relevant to supramolecular chemistry (e.g. molecular modelling and design, the measurement of binding constants and the use of NMR to determine molecular structures in solution).
Some knowledge of carbohydrate and/or peptide chemistry would be useful but not essential.
The starting date is negotiable, but should be as soon as possible.
For further information on the research group see: http://www.bris.ac.uk/chemistry/people/anthony-p-davis/overview.html (official web page) or http://davis.chm.bris.ac.uk/ (group web page).
Contract: The post is offered on an open ended basis, with funding confirmed for 12 months in the first instance.
We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world's leading universities.
