The Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney currently has a vacancy for an experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow to be involved in the cancer survivorship research including a focus on the psychological and physical wellbeing of people who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.

This is a new position as part of the Centre for Research Excellence in Prostate Cancer Survivorship at the Faculty of Health, UTS. Under the strategic supervision of Chief Investigator, the successful applicant will investigate the psychological, social and behavioural aspects of prostate cancer

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Undertake internationally competitive research
  • Prepare research grant applications and tenders
  • Seek and apply for competitive Fellowship and/or grant funding appropriate to the level of qualifications/experience
  • Coordinate and prepare research protocols, ethics and data applications and reports.
  • Conduct data analysis
  • Publish and/or disseminate research outcomes.
  • Provide progress reports and a final report on the research program
  • Contribute to and participate in research seminars as required
  • Apply for external research grants and fellowships, and/or  actively seek other appropriate funds from an externally funded  agency or source

Main skills/experience required:

  • Demonstrated experience developing peer-reviewed academic publication, research funding and report writing in the behavioural sciences field
  • Proven excellent written and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and to work effectively with a wide cross-section of external stakeholders
  • Proven strong organisational skills and the demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate various tasks and goals within deadlines, and to work effectively in doing so, both independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of diverse research approaches and methodologies, including both quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis
  • A PhD in a relevant field, ideally in behavioural sciences (eg psychology, nursing, sociology).
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking psychosocial research in cancer survivorship or men's health and/or proven experience working for, or collaborating with, a cancer control organisation, preferably a non-government or non-profit organization
  • Experience in writing grant applications, tenders and reports
