Senior Biologist/ Ecologist – Parsippany, NJ

Tetra Tech Inc. a leading environmental science and engineering consulting firm is seeking a fulltime, Senior-level Biologist/Ecologist for our Parsippany, NJ office. 

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree and 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Biology or Ecology is required
• Conduct ecological assessments for wildlife and botanical resources professional/technical expertise in the following areas: 

• Fauna and flora surveys
• Environmental impact analysis
• Regulatory compliance
• Permitting documentation for land use/development, monitoring for natural/biological resources protection
• Technical proficiency and demonstrated experience in one or more of the following specific areas: wildlife surveys
• Vegetation community inventory and mapping
• Plants identification and botanical surveys (esp. rare and special status species);
• Regulatory processes and permitting requirements (Federal/State laws, regulations, and policies)
• Wetland inventory, delineation (using the three-parameter approach), and functions/values assessment
• Strong technical report writing and editing
• Interpersonal communication and oral presentation skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
• Exceptional attention to details and quality of work processes and products
• The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Access software
• Versatility and willingness to travel will be an important attribute in evaluating applicants for the position
