Governance and Risk

The Governance and Risk Division provides leadership, strategic direction and management to enable effective and efficient governance and risk management towards delivering the University's planned outputs and outcomes.

The Division is responsible for the development and management of the University's enterprise-wide governance, risk management, compliance and procurement frameworks and processes, facilitating their adoption, and providing assurance on their effectiveness.

Enterprise Compliance is a 2nd line function that collaborates with management and staff to build and enhance compliance awareness, capabilities, controls and processes and ultimately providing assurance on their effectiveness.

The role

The aim is to increase confidence in the University's ability to meet and demonstrate compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. To be compliance ready.

This role offers the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to develop, implement, and facilitate a structured process to ensure there is advanced awareness and understanding of impending new legislation or changes to existing legislation.

Key responsibilities include providing expert advice and assistance in relation to managing compliance obligations, supporting the development of feedback and/or submissions on draft legislation or proposed legislative amendments and providing quality advice and reports to inform internal decision-making on complex policy issues.

The person

The successful person will need well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships to effectively influence, negotiate and resolve substantial and sensitive issues with internal and external stakeholders.

The person should have comprehensive knowledge of contemporary compliance management frameworks and a general understanding of the Australian legislative and administrative framework and its application in a general business management context.

Applicants must possess postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education and training.

The person should be looking to start this role in early 2019.

This role is a full-time position, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $94,667.38 - $106,298.69 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $110.760.83 - $124,369.47 p.a.).
