Queensland Brain Institute

The University of Queensland's Institutes: The Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) are leading global research institutes. IMB was established in 2000 as UQ's first research institute and is the cornerstone of one of the largest bioscience research precincts in Australia. AIBN was established in 2003 and seeks to deliver innovative solutions to society's problems through sustainable materials, healthy living and translational success. QBI was established in 2003 and is a world-leading institute focused on two of the greatest challenges of modern science: understanding brain function and the prevention and treatments of disorders of brain function

More than 1000 scientists and students across the three institutes come from more than 50 countries.

The role

The Digital Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the Digital Communications Manager in the creation of digital assests for the websites for QBI, AIBN and IMB.  You will be required to assist in the management of the website and digital channels, including content creation, monitorin and reporting.  This role will also assist with the broad strategic and operationsl communications and activities for the Institutes and ensure an integrated communications and marketing approach.

 

The person

Applicants should have a degree in Journalism, Communication (or a related undergraduate discipline) and experience in website content management and functionality with a demonstrated understanding of website development, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.  You will require the ability to effectively use social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc) and have a keen eye for design.  To be successful in this role, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise your own workload, take initiative and be highly motivated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $66,347 - $75,771 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $77,626 - $88,652 p.a.).
