Job Details

Both posts are offered on an open ended basis, with funding fixed until 31 July 2021.

The University of Bristol is developing an integrated business development and account management function, including Faculty based teams and a central team based in RED. The Business Development and Alliance Managers will work with Professional and Academic staff from across the University in identifying, planning and executing strategies for business development and alliance management. This will include: new opportunities; developing and implementing plans; making the case for resources and managing these effectively; and contributing to strategic development of the team and the UoB approach to developing and managing strategic relationships.

The role holder will fulfil all aspects of account management, in particular: being the key point of contact, developing and managing relationships with external parties at all levels of seniority; representing research and teaching capability (strengths); brokering areas of mutual interest; championing opportunities both internally and externally; identifying, co-developing and coordinating new opportunities; supporting bid development (in conjunction with academic teams and RED staff); and preparing and executing strategies for business development. The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund is a key priority, where the role holder will be expected to lead in establishing and developing opportunities with our partners.

You should have a relevant degree (or equivalent qualification or professional experience) and business development or funder experience, including proven experience of preparation of business plans and applications for large funding opportunities. You will be a self-starter, a good strategic thinker, and be able to respond effectively to short deadlines. A PhD or MBA would be a bonus.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Wednesday 5th December 2018; interviews are expected to be held 13th-14th December 2018.
