Job Details
Successful candidate will be adding research capabilities in the areas of seismic safety and resilience of schools and communities, including - but not limited to - school construction practices, seismic assessment and retrofit of school buildings, multi-hazard risk assessment, disaster mitigation planning, engagement with communities and stakeholders, preparation and dissemination of training material and project outputs. The post-holder will be joining a strong research team at the University of Bristol, and an international consortium of Universities, local agencies and NGOs seeking to develop solutions that will improve long-term resilience of school infrastructure and communities in Nepal.
The appointee will have at least a first degree or equivalent in civil engineering and a PhD in a closely related area. International multi-disciplinary experience and/or working with NGOs in disaster risk reduction would be an advantage.
The post is offered on full-time, fixed term contract for up to 14 months but no later than April 2020.
