Job Details

The role

The School of Education at the University of Bristol is seeking an exceptionally motivated individual with expertise in cognitive, biological or developmental psychology to join an interdisciplinary and dynamic team at the highly prestigious University of Bristol, as a Lecturer (teaching and research). The successful individual will join our thriving and expanding internationally renowned team of Psychologists and be a central member of our new research centre (Psychological Approaches for Studying Education: PASE).

The successful candidate will contribute to the educational delivery of our BPS accredited MSc Psychology of Education and BSc Psychology in Education programmes. Both of these programmes are uniquely positioned to embed Psychology in Education, and have attracted students who wish to develop careers where psychology is applied to work with children, young people and schools, including in special education. The School is ideally looking for candidates with expertise in cognitive, biological, or developmental areas (and particularly the intersection of these). Expertise in developmental disorders, for instance Autism Spectrum Disorder, would be particularly welcomed, as would expertise in the use of neuroscience in these fields. The successful candidate will teach on core BPS units as well as across the School's programmes as required.

Candidates should complement the existing research expertise in the School and be able to demonstrate a developing record of high-quality research output and the ability to obtain grant funding. Ability to develop collaborative endeavours and contribute to interdisciplinary University initiatives is favourable.

The post-holder will make a valuable contribution to teaching and research across the School. This represents a fantastic opportunity to work with our dynamic and exciting psychology team to shape an expanding portfolio of academic endeavour in the Psychology of Education.

Closing date for applications is midnight on 6 January 2019.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world's leading universities.
