Job Purpose

To perform research in the area of higher category theory. The fellow will work on the development work on the proof assistant homotopy.io as part of an EPSRC-funded research project. In addition to undertaking research, the fellow will be expected to produce research papers and occasionally work on funding applications under the direction of the PI.

 

Person Specification

  • Doctorate in mathematics, computer science, or a related topic, or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • Experience in development of proof assistants for higher category theory.
  • Experience in functional programming.
  • Experience in working on formally verified mathematics.
  • Strong knowledge of higher category theory and its role in the foundations of mathematics.
  • Strong knowledge of type theory and fibrations of categories
  • Strong knowledge of homotopy theory
  • Strong knowledge of topos theory and higher topos theory
  • High level analytical capability
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
  • Willingness to contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme
  • Ability to write research papers
  • Ability to prepare and deliver research presentations
