The role

The primary purpose of this position is to perform research into the potential of complement proteins as therapeutic targets for cancer. The successful candidate will join the laboraties of Dr Barbara Rolfe and A/Prof Trent Woodruff and be involved in the development of cell-based and in vivo assays for drug screening, mechanistic studies and biomarker identification. You will establish experimental cancer models, perform immunological assays and data analysis as well as develop and optimize flow cytometry assays, immunoassay techniques and cell-based assays using animal and human cells.

The person

Applicants should have a PhD in the area of immunology, cell biology or related discipline with demonstrated knowledge in cell and molecular biology. Experience in molecular biology techniques, cell culture and in vitro assays (e.g. flow cytometry, cell-based assays, ELISA), and the ability to independently research and develop experimental procedures to solve a given problem is essential. Knowledge in cancer immunotherapy and experience with mouse cancer models is desirable.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for two (2) years at Research Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $83,295 - $89,285 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $97,456 - $104,464 p.a.). Flexible work arrangements may negotiated.
