Job Summary:

Our Enterprise and Partnerships team is responsible for identifying, developing, and winning new business opportunities. The Business Development Analyst and Bid Manager role provides end-to-end bid management support, delivering informal proposals and formal responses to invitations to tender. This requires project management of the process and of subprojects such as contracting and resource planning, together with expertise in bid making and content development of specific bids. It also provides analysis and a forward view of markets, offerings, and potential partners for our services, which contribute to business plans. The successful candidate will lead specific business development projects to address new market opportunities.

The Business Development Analyst and Bid Manager will increasingly support work programmes that coordinate enterprise activity across the Faculty of Medicine and wider University. They will also work with a wide range of partners internally and externally; and with external entrepreneurs and providers to identify, develop and evaluate potential innovations.

Requirements:

Candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent work experience, preferably in a health or scientific area, with practical knowledge of analysing information and drawing conclusions. They will have:

  • The ability to prioritise and manage own workload and work on own initiative to a high standard; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and; 
  • To be able to analyse complex problems and apply professional knowledge to solve them. 

 

Experience in bid management, tendering and contracting processes is desirable, together with a detailed understanding of research management processes, research funding and delivery systems, and the way that these functions interact with each other and external stakeholders. A significant amount of travel will be required to fulfil the role, primarily in the UK with some overnight stays.

Further Information:

The position is based at the University of Southampton Science Park in Chilworth, and is a permanent post. It is full time; however part time working or job share arrangements will be considered. Please mention in your application if you are only available for part time hours and/or job share.
