Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private examination board of Pakistan that offers secondary (SSC - Grades IX and X) and higher secondary (HSSC - Grades XI and XII) qualifications in both English and Urdu mediums. AKU-EB is a model examination board whose primary purpose is to improve the quality of education. It achieves this by making assessment, examinations and syllabi of international standard which are affordable and accessible to Pakistani students. The AKU-EB qualifications are highly valued by leading higher education institutions within and outside the country.

AKU-EB was established by Aga Khan University in August 2003 in accordance with Ordinance CXIV of the Government of Pakistan. It develops syllabi and examinations aligned with the National Curriculum of Pakistan.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Examination Development, the Specialist will be directly responsible for:

• Developing high quality items on a regular basis;
• Reviewing items on weekly basis or as per recommendation;
• Developing error-free exam papers which are balanced and grade-appropriate with regards to content coverage and skill;
• Developing and reviewing syllabi;
• Developing other relevant learning resources based on the syllabi/ evidence based research/ assessment outcome/reports from teacher trainers;
• Actively participating in creating projects for Middle School Programme;
• Actively participating in designing and conduct of workshops in Biology for teachers and students;
• Capturing data resulting from workshops for analysis and research;
• Publishing research work as co-author in at least one paper per year.

 

Requirements

You should have:

• A Master's degree in their relevant disciplines and excellent academic qualifications;
• At least three years teaching experience in SSC/ HSSC level (Grades IX to XII);
• Understanding of how curricula and teaching can develop and exams can test critical thinking and reasoning skills in students;
• Excellent written and communication skills in Urdu or English;
• Ability to represent the Exam Board to schools, students, parents;
• Unwavering commitment to quality and integrity in all aspects of the work of the Exam Board;
• Ability to collaborate and mentor;
• A passion for preparing students for tertiary education and understanding of the continuum of education.
