Job Details
The role holder will provide support in all aspects of lipid analyses to join the Organic Geochemistry Unit (OGU) investigating a range of archaeological matrices including (but not limited to): ceramic sherds and soil/sediments. This will include, preparation of large sample sets for analysis (solvent extraction, chromatographic separation, derivatisation), operation of analytical instrumentation (GC, GC-MS Prep-GC and GC-C-IRMS), safe handling of chemicals, safe storage and waste disposal. The technical support is essential in achieving the goals of ongoing projects and commercial analyses.
With proven experience of working in a dynamic laboratory and a basic understanding of organic chemistry, you will have excellent organisational skills to complete given tasks with minimum supervision and to multitask with a range of laboratory equipment procedures. In addition, knowledge of good laboratory practice and safety is essential for this role as you will be contributing to the risk assessment of projects and ensuring compliance.
