The University of Nottingham invites applications for a new Chair in Engineering Education/ Associate Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education & Student Experience, bringing innovative direction and excellence to the Faculty of Engineering. With 250 academic staff and 3,500 taught students, our Faculty is known for its world-class research, inspirational teaching, and a diverse community.  We are proud of the achievements within our Faculty's departments, which are ranked 1st for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2nd for Chemical Engineering, 5th for Architecture, and 7th for Civil Engineering in The Guardian University Guide 2019.

As the Associate Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor, you will work alongside the Pro Vice-Chancellor and two associate peers to provide academic management of the Faculty. You will have explicit responsibility for Education and Student Experience to provide a clear direction in delivering and developing an ambitious strategy which will continue to advance our educational offering and practice, whilst ensuring that the Faculty enhances its reputation as an outstanding place for our students to learn and our staff to work.

In a rapidly changing landscape, you will bring knowledge and experience of best pedagogy practice with a desire to ensure our curricula retain the highest standards of quality as well as relevance to employers and the workplace. You will be an innovative practitioner in Engineering Education with the skills to continue to develop the already thriving, collaborative, and diverse community of staff we already have across our Faculty.

Along with being a member of the Faculty Executive Board and reporting on an operational level to the Faculty PVC, you will also play a key part in leading the development and successful implementation of specific projects. You will assist the Faculty PVC in ensuring that activity in your portfolio area is in line with our University's overall vision, goals, strategy, core principles and values. You will contribute to and share ownership of key decisions, the shaping, development and implementation of strategy and policy, not only in your portfolio area, but also more widely across the Faculty.

At the end of your term in the AFPVC role, you will continue as a member of the Faculty as Chair in Engineering Education. The Associate Faculty PVC term is renewable and lasts for four years.
