Job Details
We have an opportunity for an outstanding leader to define, plan and drive the continued success of the Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG).
Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Director is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overall leadership of the IPPG, which incorporates the Centre for Local Government (CLG), in line with our new strategy, UTS 2027.
The Institute for Public Policy and Governance is comprised of a leading group of researchers and practitioners in the areas of public administration and policy, social research, evaluations, stakeholder engagement, and leadership.
It undertakes research and evaluation for a wide range of public, non-profit and for-profit organisations; and provide graduate education and professional development training.
The IPPG team works closely with and maintains extensive professional networks within the university and with governments; industry; not-for-profit and community-based organisations across Australia and internationally.
Demonstrating the relationship skills necessary to develop critical partnerships, both internally and externally, key to your success will also be your ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
A mature and strong communicator, you will promote and develop the work of the IPPG, to enhance its reputation and drive UTS leadership in impactful public policy advisory.
The ideal candidate will have a sound background in public policy, social research and evaluation and research management, with demonstrated ability to plan and manage financial resources and to supervise highly skilled staff in a flexible and creative working environment.
Key leadership attributes including exceptional influencing skills, a proactive strategic leadership style and the ability to build effective teams are essential.
Remuneration and Benefits
The initial term of the appointment will be five years.
The University will determine re-appointment to a further term after consultation with the appointee and following a performance review towards the conclusion of the initial term.
An attractive and competitive salary package will be negotiated with the appointee.
