UQ Physics is located in the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science. The Discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence, and hosts a number of world-class research centres. Physics is one of the University of Queensland's top 30 research strengths, and the School of Mathematics and Physics is proud to support a major research effort in astrophysics. In the recent Excellence in Research for Australia 2015 assessment, the University of Queensland was rated “well-above international standard” in 02 Physical Sciences, as well as in the sub-categories 0201 Astronomical and Space Sciences, 0204 Condensed Matter Physics, and 0206 Quantum Physics.
The role
The School of Mathematics and Physics is seeking to appoint an outstanding astrophysicist who will further enhance and expand upon our existing research strengths in cosmology or galactic astrophysics.
The successful candidate will develop their own independent research program, participate in teaching and postgraduate supervision, as well as perform service and other activities associated with the School and the discipline of Physics.
The person
The appointee will have a demonstrated record of performing innovative, international quality research. Applicants with an outstanding track record in any area of astrophysics are encouraged to apply. It is desirable that the research program of the successful candidate should expand the research profile of the School in new and exciting directions, while forming synergistic collaborations with one or more of the existing research strengths in UQ astrophysics.

Remuneration
This is a fulltime, fixedterm position at Academic Level B - $93,985 - $111,607 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $109,963 - $130,580 p.a.)
