Job Details

Details

This project develops a new technology for administering lineups. Although eyewitnesses of crimes likely encode perpetrators from different angles (front, three-quarter, profile etc.), little research has considered how a witness's encoding view of a perpetrator influences their subsequent identification behaviour. We have developed novel interactive lineup—wherein witnesses are able to rotate the lineup faces into any pose desired—to test whether reinstating the pose in which the perpetrator was encoded is associated with accurate identifications. We are particularly interested in studying these effects over time (i.e., with long retention intervals) and in novel situations, such as in cross race identifications, older adult witnesses, and in sexual assault cases.

Funding Notes

I would be pleased to develop studentship funding bids if applicable (i.e., to be competitive, students have a 1st class degree, and an outstanding profile of research experience). Self funding students are also welcome to get into touch with me.
