Head of Security and Emergency Planning

The post-holder is responsible for the strategic management, leadership and development of the Security staff and services at the University of Birmingham. Part of this role is the responsibility to develop, maintain and manage the University's Strategic Emergency Response Plan (SERP) and local Contingency Plans already in place within all Budget Centres.

The post-holder will support any activities necessary to enable the University to respond effectively to emergencies in conjunction and liaison with University Senior Officers and the emergency services.

The post-holder will play an active part within the team of Support Services Managers reporting to the General Manager Support Services.

• This is a high profile, strategic position which requires a candidate of high calibre who responds well to a challenging environment.
• The successful individual will be decisive, well motivated and able to inspire confidence and demonstrate clear leadership in their team, and across the University.
• They will have the knowledge, ability and commitment to implement ‘best practices' within the Security section.
• The successful candidate will have an existing network of contacts in the various fields of Security and Risk Management and be able to inform, alert and advise on current matters of interest.
