The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute

The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute was established in 2007 and forms a major research centre within the Faculty of Medicine. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine

The role

The successful appointee will conduct high quality research into utilising metagenomics, proteomics and bioinformatics to understand events that may trigger type 1 diabetes, participate in applications for external research funding support and publish or exhibit in high-quality outlets.  

The person

Applicants should possess relevant PhD, proven research skills and Practical laboratory experience in relevant experimental methods such as proteomics (sample preparation, mass-spectrometry), molecular techniques (DNA analysis, sequencing). You will have well-developed computer literacy including experience with ‘R' and/or proteomics software packages and/or sequencing analysis, and it would be advantageous if you had familiarity with microbiome research.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a part/full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic Level A/B. The remuneration package will be in the range $83,295 - $89,285  p.a. (1 FTE Level A)/$75,188 - $89,285 (0.8 FTE Level B), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $97,456 - $104,464 p.a. (1 FTE Level A)/$87,970 - $104,464 (0.8FTE at Level B).
