Research and Human Tissue Manager

The University of Bristol is seeking a Research and Human Tissue Manager.

You will have gained administrative experience from roles in a research and/or academic environment and you must demonstrate commitment to drive the research ethics and integrity agenda with enthusiasm.  You should have experience of managing clinical trials and be familiar with the requirements of the Human Tissue Act. An awareness of related quality control procedures and a good knowledge of the Human Tissue Act 2004 and relevant codes of practice is as essential as excellent organisational and communication skills. We expect you to be capable of independently managing your own workload whilst working as a member of the team, reporting to the Head of Research Governance. 

The post holder will take the lead for the high risk research work stream within the Research Governance Team. This involves supporting researchers at all levels of seniority in the setup and conduct of high risk research projects that involve the use of human tissue and/or clinical trials of investigational medicinal products or devices.

In addition the role holder will lead on the University's compliance with the Human Tissue Act e.g. liaising with senior staff to comply with HTA licence conditions, overseeing audits and inspections, providing professional advice and support for research and teaching activities that involve the use of human tissue.

In this role you will be the contact / communication link between the University and collaborative organisations relevant to research involving human tissue and clinical trials of investigational medicinal products.
