Job Summary

The Research Development Officer will play an important role in implementing the College of Arts and Law's impact and research agendas, particularly as they relate to the Research Excellence Framework 2021. Drawing upon his/her understanding of research in Higher Education, the successful candidate will work closely with relevant academic and Professional Services colleagues within the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion and across the College to support the delivery of high-quality REF impact case studies and excellent research.

The post holder will be proactive in establishing effective relationships with academic and Professional Services colleagues (in e.g. Research Planning, Research Development, Research Communications, Research Planning and Research Operations) from within the School/College and across the University. S/he will also look to support maintenance and development of high quality external partner links, as appropriate.

The post holder will have a keen eye for detail, an ability to problem-solve and deal with unexpected situations, and the ability to think creatively in order to add value to existing research and impact activities. Working on a range of activities simultaneously, s/he will have strong written and oral communication skills; excellent organisational and project management skills; an ability to prioritise tasks and to manage workload; and a flexible, customer service-oriented approach. S/he will promote a positive image of the School(s) to a wide range of stakeholders including external speakers, academic visitors, business and cultural partners, and members of the local community. The successful candidate will also be required to use judgement in problem-solving and to work effectively with staff at all levels within the School and College.

The post holder also may, on rare occasions, be required to work evenings, weekends or occasional public holidays as necessary in order to meet service requirements.
