Job Purpose

This is an opportunity for a candidate with a marketing and/ or student recruitment background to develop and implement marketing and recruitment activities for prospective home and international students within the College of Arts and Law. The College is looking for a talented, innovative and flexible individual who is committed to developing and implementing effective approaches to recruitment and marketing to ensure that our activities remain competitive. This includes all activities from pre-applicant stage through to registration of the applicant as a student in the College.

With a student population of over 6,000, the College of Arts and Law encompasses a vibrant range of subject areas across five academic Schools.The post holder will plan and lead activity specifically for our extensive portfolio of programmes, in order to meet specific recruitment targets for the College.

The post holder will have some management responsibility, and will also manage student ambassadors to support with recruitment events and activities.

The post holder will be part of a collaborative professional services team in the College and the University's supportive Marketing community.This is a varied and rewarding role for someone wishing to develop their experience in an intellectually stimulating environment.

The post holder will build and manage relationships with a wide cross-section of staff in the College and across External Relations and the wider University, working with academic and other Professional Services staff.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A good undergraduate degree, preferably in a Humanities discipline
  • Demonstrable experience in a Marketing and/ or Student Recruitment role as part of a complex organisation
  • Professional marketing qualification (e.g. CIM) or equivalent experience
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Higher Education and its environment
  • Proven and effective experience in marketing communications, across a full range of specialisms, including CRM, print/offline, market research and evaluation, strategic planning and digital
  • Demonstrable event management skills
  • Evidence of marketing analysis skills, devising marketing strategies for implementation and the ability to interpret data
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels - to include effective presentation skills
  • Experience of maintaining effective relationships with a broad spectrum of people
  • An innovative and creative approach to marketing and recruitment, capable of developing new initiatives
  • Demonstrable problem solving skills when under pressure
  • Ability to write persuasively and produce concise copy within short timescales
  • Well-developed organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and high standards of accuracy when working to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Content Management Systems, competent in using IT and a willingness to learn new systems as necessary
  • Ability to work on own initiative, taking a flexible, proactive and creative approach to work
  • Flexibility to work out of hours as required (including occasional evening and weekend work) and a willingness to travel.

 

Desirable

  • Management experience
  • Proven and effective experience in marketing in the higher education sector
  • Proven copywriting skills for online and offline marketing materials for a range of stakeholders
  • Proven and effective experience of customer relationship management software.
