Medical Officer (Ophthalmology), Service Line - Eye and ENT

Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi is proud to have qualified and dedicated Team of Surgeons, Medical, Nursing and Allied professionals within the Service Line - Eye and ENT. Using state-of-the-art equipment helps to identify, diagnose and treat Eye and ENT related problems. The Section of Ophthalmology offers a variety of surgical treatment procedures like cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, glaucoma drainage surgery, mid face reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, squint surgery, retinal detachment surgery. Procedures like cochlear implants, reconstructive surgery post trauma or cancer head and neck surgery are unique to ENT. Based on these specialised procedures, patients are accommodated in the out-patient as well as the in-patient areas. The service line believes in innovation, exemplary care and access to services for all.

 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • Provide quality patient care in the inpatient area
  • Perform common procedures under the supervision of consultants
  • Perform regular duties and on calls, and conduct rounds with Consultants in the assigned ward
  • Do patients' assessment and complete required paperwork
  • Display effective and relevant documentation with quality record keeping of clinical and progress notes, and discharge summaries
  • Exhibit procedural skills in assistance and independently where required
  • Display the prudence and precaution that avoids potential complications
  • Ensure that patients are given correct medications, instructions and information on their healthcare needs
  • Remain updated on infection control procedures and follow the same. 

 

Requirements

You should have:

  • An MBBS degree with a valid PMDC license
  • One year internship completed preferably with one year of clinical experience in critical care area of any reputable healthcare organization
  • Good command over computer applications, particularly the MS Office package
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in teams.
