Faculty Operations Director (3 opportunities available)

The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a Faculty Operations Director for the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Health Sciences and Science.

These strategic posts will focus on directing and developing our Faculty professional service operations in order to support both your faculty and our wider university objectives. You will have strategic and active management of resources, staff and infrastructure including the development of your administrative and business functions. As part of your role, your decisions will not only consider your Faculty, but our University as a whole, as such, you will have a commitment to equality of opportunity for all staff, respecting and encouraging diversity across the board. Whilst ensuring the effective operational management of your Faculty and working closely with senior officers of our university to deliver University and Faculty objectives, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of your Faculty activity in relation to the business planning process as operated under the auspices of the Planning and Resources committee. You will have a focus on having a broader university and corporate view, that upholds an “integrated University” approach to operating, ensuring that all faculties are collaborating in a way that is both effective, and mirrors the vison and values of the University of Nottingham. Your remit will also cover supporting preparation of any business cases for flexible investment funding, representing your Faculty at institutional level and beyond, and ensuring that your Faculty complies with our University policies and strategy.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a background as an operational manager who has personal experience using your strategic and business planning skills. You will be able to demonstrate your effective and efficient leadership ability, along with your ability to negotiate, motivate your staff at all levels and show a high degree of initiative. Ideally, you will have an understanding of the HE sector, university decision making, and the ability to forge connections with, and manage, both academic and administrative colleagues, whilst working as a member of the team. The ability to work under pressure is essential, as is financial management and awareness, along with having excellent IT skills.
