UQ Protein Expression Facility

The UQ Protein Expression Facility (PEF) is a Central Research Platform at UQ operating within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research (ODVCR). It provides research capabilities to academic and industry researchers through extensive research services in recombinant protein production.

With a team of highly skilled research specialists, UQ PEF offers comprehensive protein production services using Escherichia coli, yeast, baculovirus-insect, mammalian and cell-free expression platforms to tailor for protein-specific uniqueness. Its robust and flexible production platform supports molecular engineering, multi-hosts expression, protein purification and characterisation. The role

The successful appointee will conduct protein production using a range of expression systems at the UQ Protein Expression Facility. You will establish and develop effective relationships with facility users and be responsible for training and supervising professional staff and students in protein production. For appointment at HEW Level 6 you will lead and expand the capabilities of the facility and manage the day-to-day operations and ongoing projects relating to protein production.

The person

Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You will have demonstrated proficiency in recombinant protein production, and in using one or more expression system is essential. Your demonstrated ability in data analysis, record keeping, report writing and presentation of research results make you an ideal candidate for this role. For appointment at HEW 6, applicants should posess a degree in a relevant area with subsequent relevant work experience and have demonstrated ability to design, execute and manage research projects.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until 31 December 2019 at HEW Level 5 or 6, depending on skills and experience. 

The remuneration package at HEW Level 5 will be in the range $66,348 - $74,099 p.a., plus employer superannuation contribution of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $77,627 -$86,696 p.a.). The remuneration package at HEW Level 6 will be in the range $75,957 - $81,715 p.a., plus employer superannuation contribution of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $88,870 -$95,607 p.a.).
