(Level B) $96,135 - $113,788 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply.

This continuing position is available from July 2019.

The Scholarly Teaching Fellow is a dedicated teaching position, with demonstrated success in teaching and coordinating Chinese Studies courses at all levels from Chinese to English and/ or English to Chinese translation and/ or interpreting, and supported through Student Evaluation of Learning and Teaching surveys or other evidence of teaching capacity. 

The School of Social Sciences comprises five Departments: Anthropology and Development Studies; Asian Studies; Geography, Environment and Population; Politics and International Relations; and Sociology, Criminology and Gender Studies.  Combining a vibrant and innovative teaching environment with a strong research culture, the School offers an intellectually stimulating environment in which to work.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in any field of Chinese Studies.
  • Native or near-native competence in both English and Chinese.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Chinese language at tertiary level from beginner to advanced level including Chinese background speakers.
  • NAATI qualifications or equivalent ability to teach Chinese to English and/or English to Chinese translation and/or interpreting at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate courses.
