Postdoctoral Researchers in Geophysics

We invite applications for a position as a postdoctoral researcher in Geophysics. The successful candidate will be part of the IsotopicGeochemistryGroupStateKey Laboratory at the Guanghzou Institute of Geochemistryand will be developing research within the field of seismology, including but not limited to tomography, anisotropy, bouguer anomaly of the oceanic lithosphere/subduction zones with the aim of addressing fundamental scientific questions pertaining both to geophysics, geodynamics and geochemistry. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to develop his/her own research projects and to collaborate overseas. We seek highly motived and independent scientists that hold a PhD in the field of geophysics.
 
As one of the leading universities in China, the Guanghzou Institute of Geochemistry (GIG) is part of the Chinese Academy of Science (http://english.gig.cas.cn/rh/rd/200907/t20090716_23801.html). GIG possesses a good track record of collaborative and multi-disciplinary work in the field of subduction zones, seismology and formation of continental crust.
 
Guangzhou is one of the best cities in China with a large international community, bus and metro transportation, and site seeing (https://littlegreybox.net/2015/08/06/discovering-guangzhou/). It is within 2 hours from Hong-Kong and possesses bullet train and one international airport with direct flights from the main European and US cities. It has a good community of international people as well as several sightseeing.
 
Position: Post-Doctoral Researcher in Geophysics, 12 0000 to 20 000 RMB/month depending upon the background of the successful candidate. Further opportunities of support funding may also be available.
Duration: 2 years, renewable upon satisfaction.
Start date: 1 May, 2019 or as soon as possible hereafter.
Qualifications: a PhD in Geophysics is required. Good spoken and writing English skills are required. Experience in computing is highly desirable.
