Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine Division Chief (Position 03-309-990) The University of Maryland School of Medicine and the VA Maryland Healthcare System invites applications for the position of Chief of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine.  The program has the full continuum of clinical geriatric care in an interdisciplinary academic environment that promotes outstanding geriatric training, and is supported by a Pepper Center, GRECC and federal grants.

The position will be responsible for the overall operation and management of our vibrant Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine Division within the Department of Medicine, by cultivating additional opportunities in the areas of clinical excellence, research initiatives and outstanding teaching, and will also develop and expand geriatric programs at the University of Maryland Medical Center and other System hospitals.  The selected candidate will also collaborate with Baltimore Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) physicians, nurses, and other health scientists at the University of Maryland in the conduct of aging research, clinical and educational programs, and participate in innovative programs that can be translated to impact clinical care to older veterans and education to VA staff across the VA Maryland Health Care System and the VA Mid-Atlantic Network Hospitals and Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

Successful candidates must be skilled in geriatric research, clinical care and education, and have a strong track record of research, educational and clinical funding in aging and gerontology-related disciplines, as well as demonstrated leadership experience to foster continued growth of the Division and GRECC programs through collaborations and external funding.  The selected candidate will be expected to develop strong working relationships with VA research and clinical service line leaders and foster and strengthen ties with the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
