The Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) is a research institute based at The University of Queensland. QAAFI is a world leading research provider in tropical and sub-tropical agriculture and food production.

TropAg is the world' leading international tropical agriculture conference attracting around 750 delegates from 50 countries, 300 speakers and 25 exhibitors and sponsors. This year, the conference will be held in Brisbane from 11-13 November 2019.  

The theme for TropAg in 2019 is Shaping the Science of Tomorrow, and will feature leading Australian and international scientific voices who are actively engaged in advancing research and raising awareness of the many challenges in the diverse field of tropical agriculture and food production.

 

The role

This position will project manage the TropAg conference from initial program planning through to supporting event logistics during the event. Along with providing support to deliver other QAAFI activities aimed at raising the profile of the institute, researchers and projects.

 

The person

Applicants should possess relevant qualifications and/or a minimum of two years' experience delivering a major event, conference or industry exhibition. As well as strong project management, organisational planning and communication skills to ensure the successful delivery of marketing and event activities.

This role is a fixed term contract until 15 December 2019. The position will be part-time 3 days per week and increase to full-time work between 16 September to 15 November surrounding the TropAg conference. Other flexibility arrangements will be considered.

Remuneration

This is a part-time increasing to full-time near event, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range ($75,957.07 to $81,714.50) pro-rata p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions up to 17%. Secondments and job share arrangements with existing positions will be considered for internal candidates.
