Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI)

The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI) was established in 2007 and forms a major research centre within the Faculty of Medicine. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine.

 

The role

The Centre Manager, in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Research Operations (IRO), is primarily responsible for providing strategic and operational management for the Centre. This includes responsibilities for long-term planning, strategic budget management, coordination of the Centre's professional support services, and management of core research facilities, all within a matrix organisational reporting structure. The position operates as a key interface with both internal and external stakeholders to the Centre and collaborates with these parties to achieve successful outcomes and leading practice.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. The successful applicant will have demonstrated success in communication and interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to liaise and consult, prepare well written reports and submissions, negotiate complex issues, manage change, and communicate with diverse groups. Substantial experience developing and effectively monitoring KPI's and formulation of corrective interventions and effective oject/planning and time management skills. The appointee will require the ability to foster a client service working environment and build and maintain rapport with a range of stakeholders.

 

Immunisation requirements

It is a condition of employment for this role that if you are required now or in the future, to work or interact in Queensland Health clinical facility; or in an equivalent clinical health facility; or health care role; or will be required to perform work tasks that put you at risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable disease you are required to be immunised against, and remain immunised against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in accordance with the University's Vaccinations and Immunisation Guidelines (PPL 2.60.08).  The employee is required to provide evidence of immunisation against VPDs. 

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at HEW Level 9. The remuneration package will be in the range $110,986 - $117,446 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $129,854 - $137,412 p.a.).
