Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Presenting undergraduate lectures and practicals in the specialisation areas of Foods, and Foodservice Management;
  • Initiating research in Foods and/or Food-related Consumer Research and Foodservice Management which will complement the current research focus;
  • Supervising postgraduate students and obtaining grant funding.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD-degree in Consumer Science (or related study field) or a PhD at an advanced stage of completion;
  • Two years' experience of undergraduate lecturing/tutoring;
  • Experience in Foods and/or Food-related Consumer Research and/or Foodservice Management Research;
  • Documented proof of own research outputs in Foods and/or Food-related Consumer Research and/or Food Service Management;
  • Driver's license.

 

Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behavioural Atttributes)

  • Appropriate language and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Evidence of teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Ability to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the Department.

 

Added Advantages and Preferences: 

  • NRF-rated or must be able to attain an NRF rating within the forthcoming five years;
  • Post-doctoral experience.

 

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
