Within the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supported Ambizione project "Intuition and 'jumping to conclusions' in schizophrenia: Studying the temporal relationship in daily life and with neuroimaging" at the Department of Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Epidemiology, University of Basel (Head: Prof. Dr. Roselind Lieb), we are looking for one doctoral student. The position is limited to four years and is scheduled to begin in August 2019 (or later). The doctoral thesis is supposed to be prepared in the field of neurocognitive schizophrenia research using virtual reality. Besides working on your thesis, you will be an active member of the SNSF project named above.

 

Your position

  • Recruitment of patients at the collaborating clinic in Basel (UPK)
  • fMRI and EMA data collection and management
  • Clinical interviews and assessments of patients with schizophrenia
  • Analysis of fMRI and EMA data sets
  • Writing scientific publications
  • Presenting findings at national and international conferences

 

Your profile

  • Degree in Psychology (Master or Diplom)
  • Excellent English and German
  • A good foundation in research methodology and research statistics related to experimental designs
  • Experience in the implementation of empirical studies using neuroscientific methods (recruitment of study participants, data preparation, data analysis, etc.)
  • Great interest in scientific writing and publications
  • Experience in the assessment of patients with a diagnosis from the schizophrenia spectrum
  • Experience in one or all of the following methods: functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment (EMA), virtual reality
  • Interest in clinical psychological theory and neuroscientific methods
  • Technical understanding
