DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SCIENCE

LECTURER: MULTIMEDIA STUDIES

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching;
  • Supervising honours and master's students;
  • Conducting research and publishing research articles in internationally accredited journals;
  • Performing assigned departmental duties.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master's degree in Multimedia Studies;
  • Proof of one article submission to an accredited journal;
  • Teaching experience in Multimedia Studies at a tertiary level.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Appropriate communication skills;
  • Good time management skills;
  • Appropriate teaching and research skills.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Progress with a PhD related to Multimedia Studies;
  • A research focus on game studies;
  • Experience of curriculum development;
  • Knowledge of web-based technologies.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
