CONTROL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent shall be responsible for the following duties:

• General administration and managing of appointments, assessment rooms, psychometric instruments and technological equipment as well as finances, at the practical training facilities of the Department of Educational Psychology;
• Networking and liaising with external agencies (clients, schools, community engagement partners);
• Co-ordinating, supervising and monitoring practical work by postgraduate students in Educational Psychology;
• Supporting postgraduate students in terms of ethically responsible practices and professional development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Master degree in Educational Psychology or Psychology
• Registration as Psychometrist or Educational Psychologist (or Psychologist) at the Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA);
• Experience in the following:
  • Implementing, scoring and interpreting psychometric instruments;
  • Report writing;
  • Psychological assessments and contact with clients;
  • Working with postgraduate students in clinical training;
• Excellent record of administration and organisational skills.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills;
• Networking skills (collaboration with diverse prospective clients);
• Good language and writing skills (report writing and guidance of students to write reports);
• Excellent knowledge of psychometric test used by Educational Psychologist in South Africa.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• MEd (Educational Psychology);
• Knowledge and skills in the field of Educational Psychology.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
