Queensland Brain Institute

A new Group Leader position in Neuroscience at the level of Senior Research Fellow (equivalent to Assistant Professor) or Associate Professor is available within the Queensland Brain Institute at The University of Queensland.  Appointment will be made at a rank appropriate to the experience and international standing of the successful candidate.  The position will be generously supported with start-up funding, laboratory space, and a competitive salary. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 5 years.  The successful candidate will hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree, and will have completed a productive period of postdoctoral training. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong research program in neurobiology, with a focus on stroke and/or on ischaemic neural damage broadly defined.  Outstanding candidates working on areas such as the cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with ischemic stroke, including cell death, neural damage, systems, circuit analyses, and behaviour in any animal model system or in humans are encouraged to apply.

The Queensland Brain Institute (www.qbi.uq.edu.au) is a leading research institute dedicated entirely to neuroscience and is part of The University of Queensland located in Brisbane, Australia, with a fervent and vibrant community of over 50,000 students (www.uq.edu.au).  QBI is home to 450 staff and students, including 44 Group Leaders, working across a range of disciplines, focused on discovering the fundamental mechanisms that regulate brain development and function in health and disease.
