Job Details
This post will develop and undertake new tests for the characterisation of voids in composite materials. Close collaboration with researchers developing numerical modelling tools will be essential to define appropriate test configurations and boundary conditions. Furthermore, engaging with project partners will define realistic features and defects commonly found in industrial applications.
Based in the recently launched Bristol Composites Institute - the Advanced Composites Collaboration for Innovation and Science (ACCIS), within the Department of Aerospace Engineering, you will work on development of novel test methods, conduction laboratory experiments, analyse and post-process results and data, reporting on results internally, to the industrial partners, and externally to the international composites community. You will have or be working towards a PhD in Engineering / Materials Science (or closely related discipline), have experience of composite manufacturing and laboratory testing, and work well as part of a dynamic research team.
We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world's leading universities.
