Job Details

Are you medically qualified and ambitious with an interest in research and surgery?

Do you have experience of working in surgical trials?

Do you want to further your career by undertaking a higher degree in one of the UK's leading research intensive Universities?

You will support and undertake research in an NIHR-funded European multicentre surgical trial investigating the use of near-infrared fluorescence laparoscopy to prevent anastomotic leak following rectal cancer surgery. You will work as part of a team to coordinate the surgical trial in the UK and Europe and will receive hands-on training in clinical trials research and methodology. This is an exciting opportunity if you are a surgical trainee, especially if you are aiming to sub specialise in colorectal surgery or pursue an academic career. You will be medically qualified with MRCP or equivalent and hold current GMC registration with a licence to practise. During your employment, you will also work towards a higher degree (MD or PhD) at the University of Leeds. Funding is guaranteed for 20 months with a view to the Institute exploring other funding opportunities which would provide a further contract extension to facilitate the completion of the higher degree. Should the Institute be successful in securing the additional funding, then it is expected this position will be extended for a further 12-24 months depending on the type of higher degree undertaken.
