Job Details

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate cytokine regulation of joint pathology in inflammatory arthritis. We have identified key roles for IL-6 family cytokines in orchestrating the recruitment and organisation of leukocytes in inflamed tissues. We aim to understand how these cytokines influence the development of dense lymphoid accumulations within inflamed tissues and how to target these therapeutically.

The post is funded for 2 years in the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and is open to candidates who have (or are nearing completion/submission for) a PhD in Immunology. A proven ability to work with in vivo models of inflammatory arthritis is needed.  Knowledge and previous experience of working with cytokines/chemokines, T helper cells, and histological and immunodetection methods for evaluation of tissue inflammation is required. Experience of bioinformatic analysis (e.g., RNA-sequencing) is sought.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Gareth Jones, email: g.jones@bristol.ac.uk, tel: +44 (0)117 331 2095.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world's leading universities.
