Placements Officer

To source and generate placement opportunities for students, build relationships with employers and stakeholders (particularly in the region), risk assess placements, and develop and maintain recording systems/databases of student activity and participation. To support students undertaking the College's placement module, before, during and post placement. To work closely with the Internship Officers in the Careers Network team in addition to other members of the College Careers Network team.

Person Specification 

• A good honours degree or relevant experience 
• A good understanding of higher education and the issues impacting on student employability (experience working in higher education is desirable)
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and co-ordinate activities to ensure effective delivery 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt to a diverse range of client groups (with evidence of presentation skills) 
• Ability to prioritise and experience of successfully managing multiple projects to deadlines 
• Proven experience of handling databases and software packages, including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Access, Excel 
• Experience of influencing and working with senior staff 
• Experience of developing open and effective internal and external collaborative relationships 
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and to resolve problems 
• Ability to work independently and to manage own work programme 
• Ability to be adaptable and flexible and a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends 
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
