UQ Biological Resources
The University of Queensland Biological Resources Unit (UQBR) manages the laboratory animal production and research facilities for the University of Queensland.
The role of UQBR is to provide UQ with world class Animal Research services within a best practice ethical framework.
We are currently advertising for Animal Technical Officer position within UQ Biological Resources Animal Facilities based at the St Lucia Campus, in Brisbane.
The Role
The appointee will provide specialist technical assistance in the areas of rodent production and husbandry, complex rodent colony management, and take part in projects involving animal research conducted by researchers from the University of Queensland.
Medical Clearance: Working with laboratory animals is an inherent requirement of the position. Your appointment is therefore subject to, and conditional upon, satisfactory medical clearance(s), including disclosure of relevant medical history, to undertake such work without unreasonable risk to your health and safety. In addition, the Employee is required to fully comply with necessary ongoing health monitoring procedures and control measures associated with the position.
You may be required to obtain satisfactory medical clearance(s) as part of the criteria for the role.
The person
Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive career in laboratory animal industry. The person will have demonstrated experience in animal husbandry, understanding of complex rodent breeding strategies, technical procedures, strong communication skills and attention to detail, also the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, 3 years, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 4. The remuneration package will be in the range $62,342 - $66,291 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $72,940 - $77,560 p.a.).
