Although this 3-year post will be based at the University Birmingham, some work will be undertaken at the University of Nottingham and at KEMRI.

Job Purpose
Applications are invited for a MRC- funded Postdoctoral Research Fellowship based in Dr. Padma-Sheela Jayaraman's group within the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences (University of Birmingham) and co-supervised by Professor Kevin Gaston (University of Nottingham). Principal external collaborators include researchers at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). The successful candidate will be working as part of an international research team investigating inflammation, prostate cancer development and transcriptional dysregulation.
The successful candidate will develop research objectives and proposals for their research, collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews; analyse and interpret data and disseminate research findings for publication, research seminars etc.

Person Specification
- We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual capable of providing high quality work.
- The candidate should have a PhD in molecular cancer biology or pathology, or a highly relevant research area.
- Experience in prostate tumour biology and gene regulation or tumour-associated inflammation is highly desirable.
- High level analytical capability
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones
- Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
- Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
