SENIOR LECTURER: LABOUR RELATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
  • The supervision of postgraduate students;
  • Scientific research and publications in the Labour Relations and/or Labour Law field;
  • Liaising with students and other stakeholders.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A doctoral degree in Human Resource Management with specialisation in the field of Labour Relations or Labour Law; OR
  • A doctoral degree in Labour Relations or Labour Law;
  • Experience in independent research and/or involvement in research activities;
  • Lecturing experience;
  • Knowledge and experience in dispute resolutions, collective bargaining and negotiations.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Appropriate language proficiency and communication skills;
  • Computer literacy.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Registered member at the South African Board for People Practices;
  • Practical experience in commerce or industry;
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings;
  • Experience with the guidance and mentoring of students research, specialising in labour relations/labour law.

PLEASE NOTE: Shortlisted applicants may be required to do a 10/15 minute presentation to the selection committee of the Department prior to formal interviews.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
