The UQ Mental Health Strategy (2018-2020), sets out our university-wide approach to mental health and focuses on raising awareness, building capacity and promoting mental health for the UQ community. It ensures that mental health is included as a key priority in decision making at UQ. The strategy was developed in consultation with UQ staff and students and draws upon international best-practice. It outlines a stepped-care model to change culture, build on the strengths of our community and tailor support to individual requirement.

The role

The Mental Health Strategy Coordinator (Staff) is a specialist position within Human Resources Services. This role will be instrumental in the delivery of a number of projects and work streams relating to the implementation of the UQ Mental Health Strategy as it relates to staff. This role will have a strong focus on engagement. It will also focus on preventative initiatives, raising awareness of mental health issues and delivering a range of training initiatives including Mental Health First Aid to increase mental health literacy and capacity amongst Academic, Professional and Research staff.

The position also has a promotional function, actively engaging in collaboration with key UQ stakeholders in promoting initiatives such as Mental Health week and RU OK Day. This includes liaising and collaborating with the Project Coordinator, Mental Health Strategy Implementation, Student Services who coordinates UQ's delivery of the Mental Health Strategy and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor (Wellness), HSW Division who develops and implement policies and initiatives supporting the HSW Strategy, with a specific focus on the priority of enhancing wellbeing.

The person

The successful applicant will have a Degree in Psychology sufficient for full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA and the Australian Psychological Society, as well as an ability to prepare and present policies and reports of a substantial nature, and to design and present psycho-education training.

Remuneration

This is a fixed term appointment at HEW Level 8 for a period of 12 months. The remuneration package will be in $96,466 p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (Total package will be $105,630 p.a.)
