The ARC Research Hub for Advanced Manufacturing of Medical Devices (AMMD Hub) was established with the vision to drive the rapid and efficient manufacture of customized medical devices tailored to individual clinical needs.

The AMMD Hub brings together research and industry partners committed to the development and application of advanced manufacturing technologies and the translation of this research into outcomes for industry in order to ensure that the Australian manufacturing industry remains globally competitive.

The Hub team seeks to concurrently develop materials, technologies and flexible manufacturing processes, as advanced manufacturing technologies are crucial to enabling the next generation of medical devices. We contribute to better health and clinical outcomes globally by attracting and retaining talented people from research and industry for the collaborative development of innovative medical device manufacturing technologies.

The role

The successful appointee will be supporting the ARC Research Hub for Advanced Manufacturing of Medical Devices (AMMD Hub) by developing and integrating new manufacturing systems that integrate advanced automation technologies with manual work best practices. The successful appointee will be responsible for working closely with the Continuous Improvement and Research Teams at Cook Medical Australia to develop methods of translating research solutions generated by AMMD Hub into manufacturing operations. The role will be based on-site at partner manufacturing locations. There are opportunities to work with several AMMD Hub partners working on multidisciplinary projects.

The person

Applicants should possess a bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification and at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or a combination of relevant industrial experience and/or education/training.

You should have demonstrated expert experience in applying lean manufacturing techniques, including value stream mapping, standardised work, 6S and visual management.

You should have demonstrated high level of drive and enthusiasm.

Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues from a multidisciplinary background is essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability and willingness to contribute toward a safe working culture and environment, and leadership experience working with diverse stakeholders are essential.

Experience in driving the standardization of work flows and specifications is essential.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years at HEW level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $85,222 - $96,128p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $99,710 - $112,469p.a.).
