The School for Policy Studies is seeking to appoint either two Lecturers or a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer (2 posts available) to expand and complement our current excellent teaching, research and impact activities in the area of International Criminology with a focus on one or more of the following areas: cyber harms; global/transnational policing/justice; state/corporate/organised crime/harm; and racism and non-western criminology and de-colonial perspectives. The appointees will join a dynamic, ambitious and collegial School that pushes forward intellectual debates and real-world solutions to a range of policy and social dilemmas within an interdisciplinary environment.

The posts are located on Pathway One and will be appointed at either Profile Level b (Lecturer, grade J) and/or Profile Level c (Lecturer, grade K) and/or Profile level d (Senior Lecturer, grade L) of the University's Academic Pathways depending on relevant experience, skills and knowledge of the successful candidates.

The School has an exceptional reputation for teaching, research and public engagement. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) 80% of research in social work and social policy was rated world-leading or internationally excellent. In the QS World Rankings we are consistently ranked in the top 30 worldwide and top ten in the UK. Our undergraduate (UG) programmes are top rated in national league tables. The appointees will contribute to UG and postgraduate teaching and will be encouraged to develop and engage with appropriate innovation and curriculum development.

You should have evidence of engagement in inter/multidisciplinary research across areas relating to one or more of the following: international criminology, zemiology/social harm, social justice and inequalities and which links and broadens the profile of our current academic staff. You should have a record of publications judged to be 3* or 4* quality by REF and eligible for inclusion in REF2021 (for appointment at Senior Lecturer 4* is essential); ability to gain external research funding as PI or Co-I; and experience of delivering and running high quality lectures and seminars in a higher education context. A completed PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline by the post start date is essential. For Senior Lecturer level, ability to lead large-scale and/or strategic bids and ability to provide leadership to teaching and research teams is essential.

The posts are open ended and available from 2 September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The posts are full time, however the School is open to requests for working part time/job share.
