Job Details

Do you have an aptitude for science and in particular working in a laboratory environment?

Do you want to begin your career as a technician in one of the top Universities in the country?

We are looking to appoint four apprentices, eager to start their career as a Laboratory Technician. Each apprentice will provide support to several areas within the Faculty of Biological Sciences, spending time in research, teaching and facilities laboratories. As part of our apprenticeship technical training scheme you will receive hands on training within our laboratories, and be placed on an appropriate Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship course at level 3, offered by York College. You will be mentored by one of our senior technicians. On completion of your training you will have an ideal skill set to go on to a successful career as a technician, having learnt several disciplines associated with working in a lab environment.

The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was reawarded a Bronze award in 2017. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
